Fashion, You Really Got Me
And got me down.

Aren’t they simply pieces of fascinating jewelry? I myself can’t see any possibility of finding a lady who would say no to such gorgeous timepieces. The sparkling stones, the exquisite craftsmanship, the elegant arrangement and the luxury appeal, can simply drag any lady into the obsession with the watches. Although it is not the first time I’ve seen watches as sumptuous as this one, still, it has managed to wow me. For the SIHH 2011 trade show, the watch brand Piaget has presented to us its new Limelight Garden Party watch for ladies. The glittering timepieces are artfully decorated with a sparkling mosaic of diamonds, which are to make everyone not able to forget.

Without doubt, the superb watch has represented a perfect alliance between high-end jewelry art and refined watchmaking techniques.

The new Piaget watch comes in two versions. Looking almost the same, the two differ with each other on the color of the “leaves” in the “garden” embellishments. You can also see that in the pictures. One is paved with 10 marquise-cut emeralds, which weight totals to 5.2 carats, while the other is illuminated by the play of more neutral marquise-cut diamonds, and the overall weight of these jewels comes to 4.8 carats.

I bet it is every lady’s dream to have watches with such enthralling decoration to light up every passing hours and minutes. Besides, it has got gold hands on an alluring almond-shaped dial, which generously sparkles with 76 diamonds.

The bezel, skillfully incorporated into the structure of the 18-carat white gold case, is also set with a refined stream of white diamonds. Inside it is the engine animating the watch – a Swiss made quartz Piaget 56P movement. The front side of the case is assembled with a high-grade sapphire crystal. Piaget has also equipped this new model with a solid case back. Something else special about this new Piaget is its strap, which is made of satin and terminates in a white gold folding clasp.

When we are still stuck in this cold long winter at the beginning of 2011, the fashion world just seems not able to wait any longer to present to us something new. Fashion houses like Louis Vuitton, has already been well prepared for next winter, with the coming out of the Fall/Winter 2011-2012 collection. Men’s Studio Director Paul Helbers has explored the ultra simplified elegance of Amish style and instilled it with a hint of strangeness. Helbers described this unique pairing of Amish design elements with lynchian overtones, telling that this collection is almost all black to emphasize shape and technique. As can be seen from the show, those Jackets have been sculpted around the body almost like shields. And you will find the intrigue in those contrast materials like rubberized, matte Macintosh with metallic python and sun bleached wide wale corduroy in unexpected combinations. These all take on a new beauty, just as what designer’s said. However, instead of being too monotonous, some excitements have been brought to this predominantly black tone of the collection with flashes of Motel Red and matte and shine contrasts. Even denim is double dyed black with hand-painted bleach tracing long seams for a “caught in the headlights” look. On the other hand, iconic bag styles are presented in a new leather, Damier Infini, an ultra-soft and high quality leather embossed in signature check. The Keepall, the Neo-Greenwich and the Porte-Document de Voyage this time come in Motel Red, Glacier Grey and Anthracite. Aside from this new leather statement, small satchels and brief cases adorned with trunk locks, reproduced from vintage Louis Vuitton models, are shown in elephant print leather and in classic Nomade soft leather. Monogram canvas or patent alligator. Then we come to the accessories part. The house has displayed faceless watches, rose-cut cluster rings, side pleated gloves and thick matte black sunglasses associate plain simplicity with a mysterious lynchian quality, while thick knit scarves, have replaced ties to create a rustic Amish look. And we’ve seen the reversion in luxury footwear. This time they go inside out, with patched material combinations, which put alligator on the inside, patent leather on the heel and leaves edging uncut for a thick sole and a rough feel.

Well, beauty and style is not about how much money you’ve thrown away for purchasing your outfits. Lots of people tend to overestimate their matching skills. Although I am not one of the stylists, I guess they may gain lots of fun just walking on the street, thinking how stupidly people dress themselves. A Bulgarian online store shopping therapy has offered a list of the top 10 mistakes we often make when matching our lovely outfits. It’s not about fashion or brand clothes, but taste and style, and how to wear and pair the items properly:

1. Too much jewelry:
Try to make the number of pieces not more than three. Pick just one or two matching pieces to look classy and make a statement.

2. Used up heels:
Perfection is about details. Others won’t be happy hearing the annoying noise they make, which would also suggest your carelessness.

3. Too much flesh:
Saving too much from the fabric of your clothes can lead to two results – making you sexy, or screw you up. Do not make yourself look cheap or get a “muffin top”.

4. Wrong matching of patterns:
Yes, it is considered trendy, but it can be a tough job. You may end up looking overdressed. It’ll seem to others that you’ve just come back from a carnival. Pair patterned top with one-color bottom apparel, or the other way around.

5. Sneakers or flats all the time:
It’s perfect to free your feet sometimes. But avoid wearing sneakers or flats with all kind of outfits. You’re not likely to become a stunner not in high heels.

6. Dark hair roots:
The blonde hair and dark roots on the heads of celebrities is not a result of negligence but work by stylists. While usually in real life, dark roots only means being careless to the way you look.

7. Orange complexion:
Be careful with the cheap tanning lotions, which may destroy everything. Too much tanning in salons is not a good idea either – fake tanning can be dangerous, or make you look like you’ve tried too damn hard.

8. Flaunting brands and labels:
All those little tricks of revealing the logos can’t get you anywhere better. And head to toes brand names can’t ensure you chic style.

9. Sticking out bra shoulder-straps:
They simply look unpleasant. If there’s no way to hide them under the top or dress, at least make sure they are the same color. Besides, showing parts of your bottom underwear never looks good, no matter how much it costs.

10. Blindly following trends:
Without a slim and beautiful waist, you’d better forget the crop tops, even if they are super trendy at the moment. There’s some to seize and some to let go. And models become models for reasons. So suitable is the best!

What is on your mind when you are reading the poem When You Are Old by William Butler Yeats? If you happen to be a lady, you must have much deeper feeling towards these lines:

How many loved your moments of glad grace, and loved your beauty with love false or true, but one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, and loved the sorrows of your changing face.”

To some degree, I believe the idea that men and women come from different species. Most women are born with the zeal for beauty. Although not many of them will be like the Queen who keeps asking the mirror all the time who is the most beautiful woman in the world, still, the majority of them do dream about being as pretty as the princesses in the fairy tales, who have never failed to win the love of the perfect princes and the endings, which are monotonously alike – living together happily ever after. Every young girl will go through a process of the graduate disillusion, when they get to know that these are merely fairy tales, but not what true life will be like. After going a long long way, girls start to doubt some of their former beliefs, which seemed so solid and true.

Personally, I thought about the question why the fairy tales all stop at the marriages of the hero and the heroine. And then I got my own answer to this and that is, because the authors do not dare to write on. They just let us see how happy they are to be together but do not give a clue to how things will go during all the years to come, living together. The ever rising divorce rate now seems to tell us some truth.

Time is a thing usually held in awe by people, because nearly nothing in this world can withstand the test of time, youth, beauty, life, relationships or feelings. Compared with men, women are more scared of time, because of the sense of insecurity when their beauty gradually fades as time goes by. They may also sense the leaving of the love of the man they have been with for such a long time. While I love Martin Buxbaum’s view on beauty. He said, “Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty — they merely move it from their faces into their hearts.”

I believe wise women do not struggle for the stay of youth, but just wave goodbye to it when it’s time, with peaceful and beautiful smiles on their faces. Maybe the harder you try to drag it back, the faster you will lose other things. It’s useless to get mad at time or yourself or anybody else, while the only thing you can do is take it easy. And what we’ll see is a peaceful and elegant lady who seems to have got the kind of beauty and grace that lasts a lifetime.
