Gucci announced the open of GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY, a flash sneaker store at Crosby Street in New York on October 24. The store would then remain open for just two weeks.

Gucci’s creative director, Frida Giannini uses her strong sense of style and knowledge of Gucci’s clientele in conjunction with the award winning musician Mark Ronson to create this exclusive collection of Gucci Ronson sneakers. The collection includes 16 men’s styles and 2 women’s styles, incorporating classic Gucci design signatures, such as the GG logo or a stylized version of the iconic Gucci red and green web detail that mostly appear on Gucci handbags. Each design includes silver or gold metal dog tags as well as an embroidered ‘Limited Edition’ label inscribed inside the shoe. Customers’ initials can be embossed onto a customized leather tag on the shoe laces, if desired.

The opening also attracted most celebrities to come. Like Mischa Barton, Evan Rachel Wood, Claire Danes etc.
I spent many many years as an avid sneaker collector, so I wanted to make sure these Gucci shoes were truly special, both from an aesthetic point of view and a collectible one. Frida and I also agreed that it was important for there to be a unique musical element to the project, so I’m going to be collaborating with artists to make limited edition tracks for each store opening. – Mark Ronson
In December, GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY will move from New York to Miami. It will then move to select cities in Europe and Asia such as London, Berlin, Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
